‘Tis the Season…
With the cold weather and the holidays often comes the increased risk of suffering a homeowners loss due to fire or freezing pipes. Now is the time to turn off the water to those water faucets on the exterior of your home. During prolonged periods of sub freezing weather the water trapped in those pipes can freeze resulting in a burst pipe. Unless you want to spend the holidays with a plumber, take a minute now to turn off the water.
Another big risk that comes this time of year is the risk of fire. Those old lights that you carefully rolled into a knot and placed in a box in your basement may be due for a replacement. Broken wires or malfunctioning electrical decorations are a big fire risk this time of year. If you have any doubt about the lights going on the tree, it may be time to toss them and start from scratch. It may cost you a few bucks but it could be the best gift you give your family this year. Plus, think of all the time you will save by not having to spend hours unraveling that knot and testing all those old lights!
